I got this bowl for a carpeted room, so the splashing on the carpet is minimized. The dogs had to get used to it, but the cats immediately loved it and drank out of it. The other thing I love about it is that it's quick and easy to notice when the water level is getting low because the floating lid sinks into the bowl. I recommend it, especially for a multi-pet household.
